Why I'm willing to drive 30 miles to Kroger

I got everything you see, plus one early edition of the paper (couldn't fit it on table!) for $53.98 with a total savings (coupons, bonus coupons, Kroger sale prices) of $117.07.

If I had been paying attention in the store(I tell you, there are some mean older people who shop at my Kroger!), I would have seen that I only had 37 Mega items. Only 3 more Propels or tunas at $0.50 each and I would have saved another $5. Oh well, I'm not at all upset with how I did on this trip! Especially considering the diapers alone cost $11.78 of the total! And this is almost all the groceries for all of November! All I need is produce and meat and a few other items I can get cheaper at Wal Mart.

Thomas Nelson Book Review

Finding Purpose Beyond Our Pain, by Paul Meier MD and David Henderson, MD

This book is about seeing God and His purpose in the midst of trials and pain. This book is not going to tell you how to avoid pain, but it will help you if you are struggling with one of the 7 life challenges is addresses (Injustice, Rejection, Loneliness, Loss, Discipline, Failure, Death). It is informative and well-researched. It definitely belongs in any church/pastoral library.

The book assumes the reader has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior. I wish it had something at the beginning to introduce the plan of Salvation for those who may stumble across this book and need the hope it gives.

Each section stands alone. So I decided to start with Death, since we’ve dealt with a lot of family members’ deaths this year. I was disappointed. The section is about dealing with your own death. I was hoping for encouragement and was disappointed.

So I moved on to loneliness. That’s another area in which I struggle. I found myself reading and re-reading the section. There were so many “nuggets” of truth and wisdom that I spent a lot of time here.

The rest of the sections are really good as well. The authors don’t go so far as to tell you “get off your pity party” but they help you realize that what you are struggling with is an age old problem. You’re not the first and you won’t be the last.

I definitely feel stronger as a result of reading the book. I recommend it enthusiastically.

Walgreens Nov. 1-7

Just a quick clarification...other sites will tell you every coupon in their folders and online that you can use on these ads. I’m writing this as if you have no coupons at all and you just pick up the Sunday paper wanting to make deals to get started. There are more coupons out there, of course, but I don’t want you to think that you can’t start with just one day’s paper. You don’t have to have a stockpile of coupons. Sure, it helps, but you can still make good deals with what you get this weekend.

Match ups are based on coupons that "should" be in the paper this weekend. Remember, not all areas get the same inserts so the coupons may be different values or may not be there at all. This is based off the master list of what “should” be there.

I will also include in-store coupon booklets! These are generally store coupons that you can use with a manufacturer coupon for extra savings.

This list assumes you have no stored coupons and no register rewards.

I suggest Southern Savers for finding the online coupons. She has a great list with links for both CVS and Walgreens. There are a lot more deals you can make with the online coupons.

By the way, I’m not advocating these as “good” deals, just matching coupons for you. You decide what a “good” deal is for you!

All Register Reward Deals are Limit 1, but that just means you can only do one per transaction! On RR, you cannot use the coupon to buy the same product. For example, you cannot use the RR from Purell Sanitizer to buy another Purell Sanitizer. You will not get the rewards a second time. Use rewards from other products though and you can do it. (Use Purell to get Hershey’s. Use Hershey’s to get Trident.. Use Trident to get Purell....etc.)

Don’t forget...you cannot use more coupons than number of items at Walgreens. For example, you cannot use five coupons on less than 5 products.

Walgreens Matches 10/25-31

Match ups are based on coupons that "should" be in the paper this weekend. Remember, not all areas get the same inserts so the coupons may be different values or may not be there at all. This is based off the master list of what “should” be there.

I will also include in-store coupon booklets! These are generally store coupons that you can use with a manufacturer coupon for extra savings.

This list assumes you have no stored coupons and no register rewards.

This also does not include any coupons you can find and print online. Don’t forget to check coupons.com, smartsource.com and redplum.com for coupons. You can also find coupons on HEB.com, CVS.com, and Walgreens.com. Coupons printed from the store sites do not have to be used at that store!

I suggest Southern Savers for finding the online coupons. She has a great list with links for both CVS and Walgreens. There are a lot more deals you can make with the online coupons.

By the way, I’m not advocating these as “good” deals, just matching coupons for you. You decide what a “good” deal is for you!

All Register Reward Deals are Limit 1, but that just means you can only do one per transaction! On RR, you cannot use the coupon to buy the same product. For example, you cannot use the RR from the Purell Sanitizer to buy another Purell Sanitizer. You will not get the rewards a second time. Use rewards from other products though and you can do it. (Use Purell to get Hershey’s. Use Hershey’s to get Trident.. Use Trident to get Purell....etc.)

Don’t forget...you cannot use more coupons than number of items at Walgreens. For example, you cannot use five coupons on less than 5 products. This includes the coupons you clip from the insert for sales prices. Sometimes you get lucky and the sale price is programmed into the computer...but only sometimes!
