Time for a Break

I'm going to be taking a little break for a while.

This baby will be here within a week, so I'll just be checking in every once in a while for new goodies. Of course, if I have the chance, I'll post them for you here.

I have a whole list of links on the right hand side, at the bottom, of fantastic sites for you to visit in my absence. Give me a month or so to get life back together and I'll be back!

CVS and Walgreens

I have not had a chance to put together the Walgreens and CVS deals this week. Go here to Southern Savers and you can see what she has! She has, by far, the best list which includes newspaper and Internet coupons. You can also make a shopping list to take with you.

I probably won't be doing the deals for a while since baby is due anytime now!

Hurry to Walgreens TODAY!

The 9 roll pack of Angel Soft, advertised for $4 is ringing up $3.50! Use the coupon from here and get some really cheap, good quality, toilet paper!

Free Duracell Batteries

Go here to see how to get a free 20 pack of Duracell batteries at Staples. You have to be a rewards member and the amount will be credited to your rewards account with the rebate check mailed in January.

Thanks Money Saving Mom!

Valid for purchases between 11/27/09 and 12/26/09. Valid in store, on or by phone. Staples Rewards will be mailed in January. While supplies last.

Starting December 1st they'll be emailing you a coupon for free food valid every other day from December 2nd until December 24th, 2009. It could be anything from a shake, to French fries, to a Whataburger®. And it's free just for sharing the holiday season with us.

Go here to get signed up!

Wal Mart Samples

Go here to get Carefree and Stayfree samples. On the Carefree, you have the choice of a sample or a coupon, take the sample! Should have the coupon in it when it gets there. Looks like the same link as before, so if you've already received this, you can't re-request it...darn!

What I'm Thankful For This Year

This year, I am thankful for the following:

1. My family. I have a wonderful husband, a smart and creative little boy and a new baby due any time now.

2. My Savior. I have nothing without my relationship with Jesus Christ. He gave the ultimate sacrifice for someone like me? Wow.

3. Those who have taught me. From my first teachers in school to the other Mom-Bloggers who are teaching me how to live frugally, I have always been thankful for those who take the time to show others what they know.

4. Christmas Lights. Really. I love the joy that is tucked into every twinkling light. I love the smile on my little boy's face every time he sees them.

Who Stuffs Your Stocking?

Mellisa over at Getting All my Ducks in a Row, and Chrissy from Life as a "CEO" are hosting the

As a part of this promotion, they'll have a fun question each Tuesday for us to answer to earn extra entries into the prize drawings!

This weeks question is: Who stuffs your stockings?

Our stockings have been hung by our little tree (which I haven't gotten around to decorating other than Ryan's paper chain he made).

I'm pretty sure I'll be the one doing the stocking stuffing.

There probably won't be anything in Caleb's (the drummer Santa) this year since he'll only be a few weeks old.

Jim's (purple) will probably have a few things in it if I can get to the store to get them.

Mine (Santa, made by my grandmother) will hang empty probably.

Now, Ryan's (Elmo) will be filled on Christmas Eve with colors, coloring books, a Cars flashlight and a few Matchbox airplanes.

It is all about the kiddos anyway!

Book Review: Jesus Lives by Sarah Young

Jesus Lives is a gift style devotional book. The 180 devotions make for a half year of study. The main focus, through stunning first person narrative, is finding and recognizing the powerful, all-inclusive, never-changing love of Jesus. The author captures, as no other devotion I’ve read lately, a heartfelt tone and feeling. You truly believe these words passed directly to her from the Holy Spirit.

I received the book just before the week of Thanksgiving, so I decided to start reading with the devotions on Thankfulness. Honestly, the very first one I read smacked me over the head! I had to keep reading. Some time later, I realized I’d read a week’s worth of devotions in one day. I don’t want to stop reading, I only have so I can get the full force of my feelings behind my review.

I want to give a copy of this to every person I know. This book is going to change lives. This book is powerful, Scripture-based Truth from God. I feel blessed just in the part I have read and I cannot wait to read through the entire book.

This book is making me want more. It’s making me want that personal, intimate time with God daily. It will be on my nightstand. It will be a daily reminder of the love Jesus has for each and every one of us. It will be read aloud to my children. I will give copies to friends for gifts.

I cannot recommend this book enough. You have to read it. You will not be the same after you have.

I am a member of Thomas Nelson’s Book Review Blogger program. I received no monetary compensation for my opinions. A copy of the book was provided for me to read, in exchange for my honest opinion of the book. Go here to learn more about the program:

Book Review: The Sacred Meal

The Sacred Meal, The Ancient Practices Series
By Nora Gallagher

The Sacred Meal is presented as a book which “explores the beauty and mystery of this most fascinating of topics” [the Lord’s Supper]. The author seems to believe that the tradition is more about connecting us to each other, than connecting us to God.

I was very excited about getting to read and review this book. I checked the mailbox with expectation daily and was so happy when it came in that I immediately sat down and started reading. The introduction had me excited! However, now that I’m done reading it, I honestly feel this book wasted my time. Moreover, I’m concerned about the views she has presented.

There is a lot of political and social commentary, which I can’t see as fitting the focus of the book. I think it’s a shame that she waited until near the end of the book to even present the history of the Lord’s Supper. Some of the stories she tells have no logical connection to the Lord’s Supper.

She presents that everyone should take the Lord’s Supper, but I personally believe that only those who have accepted the gift of salvation should take it. Otherwise, what meaning does it have?

She presents that the Lord’s Supper is just another meal to be taken as a community. That there is “magic” in the practice. The practice of the Lord’s Supper is not to remind us of many meals which Jesus tells us about in Scripture, but to remind us of the supreme sacrifice He made for us and the significance of the practice is lost without that realization.

I’m having a hard time recommending this book. I wanted to like it.

I am a member of Thomas Nelson’s Book Review Blogger program. I received no monetary compensation for my opinions. A copy of the book was provided for me to read. Go here to learn more about the program:

Walgreens 11/15-21

Match ups are based on coupons that "should" be in the paper this weekend. Remember, not all areas get the same inserts so the coupons may be different values or may not be there at all. This is based off the master list of what “should” be there.

I will also include in-store coupon booklets! These are generally store coupons that you can use with a manufacturer coupon for extra savings.

This list assumes you have no stored coupons and no register rewards.

All Register Reward Deals are Limit 1, but that just means you can only do one per transaction! On RR, you cannot use the coupon to buy the same product. For example, you cannot use the RR from Purell Sanitizer to buy another Purell Sanitizer. You will not get the rewards a second time. Use rewards from other products though and you can do it. (Use Purell to get Hershey’s. Use Hershey’s to get Trident.. Use Trident to get Purell....etc.)

Don’t cannot use more coupons than number of items at Walgreens. For example, you cannot use five coupons on less than 5 products. Filler items are listed at end of coupon list.
